Purpose: Be prepared to suffer and to tell people why – you will be vindicated and God will be glorified.
We are prepared to answer for our hope (13 – 16)
Living God’s good life in response to the hope that Jesus has secured for us will provoke questions especially if we live this way even when suffering. We need to be ready to answer for our hope.
Are you living in a way that demands explanation?
We are prepared to suffer (17 – 22)
We are willing to suffer because we have hope. Jesus died and rose to save us – his suffering makes our suffering make sense. Suffering for doing good is part of the package for Christians. Noah suffered as he preached – Jesus suffered as he lived perfectly. But Jesus is now seated in power – our hope rests in him – our salvation is secure.
