Isaiah 40:12-31 – God is Great – Mp3

(The quality of this recording is not very good so if you would prefer the full sermon text you can find it here – Isaiah 40.12-31 – God is Great – sermon text (20-07-2014))

Theme sentence: God is incomparably great, he is in control, and he calls us to trust him and to place our hope in him.

Aim sentence: Placing our hope in the Lord will mean doing great things for Him NOW in his great strength.

I want us to see over the next few weeks that everything that matters in life hangs on who God is!

God is incomparably great

Nothing in all of creation compares to the greatness of our God – because he is the all powerful creator of everything.

The foolishness of Idolatry

Unfortunately as God’s creatures we try to find/make things to compare God to and we end up in idolatry. It is laughable to compare the incomparably great God to anything else.

God is in control – Trust him in hope

The right response to God is to realise that he is fully in control – to trust in his greatness and to place our hope in Him alone.

He promises to renew our strength and as we hope in him he promises to do great things through us for his glory.

Do you not know? Have you not heard? The LORD is the everlasting God, the Creator of the ends of the earth.”

Let’s give our lives to making his greatness known.

Nothing compares to our great God!
