As King David is about to die a power struggle takes place to see who the next King will be. Solomon is clearly the King God chooses.
The Kingdom Established (2:1–46)
Once chosen, David charges Solomon both spiritually and politically to establish his rule. We are given a description of what a Godly King should look like.
Although Solomon’s Kingdom was established and he started out well his rule began the rapid decent of the nation of Israel. God’s people desperately need a king who will not only establish God’s Kingdom but who will also hold the Kingdom together till the end.
Jesus is that promised King. His Kingdom has been established. We need to live under His good rule forever.
