Theme sentence: God’s Word is powerful. It is a very serious thing to ignore God’s Word.

Aim sentence: God continues to be gracious and kind to all people today. As He speaks, make sure you listen.

Listening to the wrong voices (1–12)

As the battle is setup, the odds are momentously stacked against Israel.

Battle 1 – Belongs to the Lord (13–21)

The prophet promises a resounding victory, which will make it clear that the Lord God is fighting for Israel.

Battle 2 – Belongs to the Lord (22–30)

After the first battle, God again gives Ahab a heads up about an approaching battle. God is showing Ahab incredible grace – undeserved kindness.

The odds now seem even worse for God’s people, but when God is for you, who can be against you.

Post-battle Drama (31–43)

In spite of all God’s kindness on display to Ahab, he still doesn’t turn to God. And he is given an object lesson about the dangers of ignoring God’s Word.

Now what?

God continues to be gracious and kind to all people today. As He speaks, make sure you listen. It is a very serious thing to ignore God’s Word.
