May Christ dwell in our hearts (16 – 17a)
Paul starts by praying that God’s mighty power might so work in them that Christ will not only live in them, but increasingly rule over them by the Spirit.
May we grasp Christ’s Love (17b – 19)
This will increasingly happen as they begin to grasp the extents of Christ’s love. Paul is praying that God will enable them to know something that they cannot know in their own strength.
And as they know this love Paul prays that it will increasingly be seen in them.
God can do exceedingly more (20 – 21)
Paul prays boldly because God can do far more abundantly than we ask or imagine for the sake of His own glory.
Now what?
So we should pray boldly for power to increasingly grasp and live in the light of the love of Christ.
God can do in us and through us more than we can even imagine – so that He will get all the glory – so let’s pray for it.
