Aim sentence: In the light of this glorious freedom we can now live for God by faith!

Paul’s Gospel = The True Gospel (1 – 10)

Paul begins this chapter by defending the Gospel he preached. Paul’s apostleship and message were just as genuine as Peter’s – there was merely a division of labour. Peter to the Jews; Paul to the Gentiles.

Opposed him to his face (11 – 14)

If anyone was accusing Paul of having a false Gospel and saying that Peter had the right one, Paul goes on to show that he even needed to challenge Peter because he was in danger of losing the Gospel and leading others to do the same.

Justified by Faith (15 – 21)

Paul then gives a most magnificent description of the Gospel. We are justified by faith in Christ and not by works of the law.

Now what?

There is wonderful freedom in this. We are declared “Not guilty” not because of anything we have done or could ever do, but only because of faith in Jesus.

In the light of this glorious freedom, we can now live for God!
