You fools! (1 – 5)
Paul lays into the Galatians for their foolishness in trying to ‘attain their goal by human effort.’
Believe and be blessed (6 – 9)
He then focuses in on Abraham to show that ‘faith’ is the only thing necessary to enjoy the blessing of justification.
Rely on law and remain cursed (10 – 12)
Paul then shows how idiotic it is to try and be justified through the law because only perfect obedience is good enough, and no one can do that.
Christ became a curse for us (13 – 14)
Then he gets to the best news of all. Jesus did what we could never do. He lived perfectly under the law. Then He took the curse of the law for us so that we might be redeemed by faith in Him.
This is a clear call for us to embrace the redemption we have through faith in Christ rather than trying to attain this redemption through human effort.
