Theme sentence: Jesus alone has authority over death and ought to be praised.

Aim sentence: In reverent fear, praise God for Jesus the only one who can save you from death.

A hopeless and helpless widow

In a desperate scene, Jesus walks into town followed by a crowd and He is confronted with a hopeless and helpless widow on her way to bury her only son.

A Compassionate Lord

Jesus’ great compassion leads Him to step into her misery and help.

A Man Raised and Reunited

Jesus does what in worldly terms is impossible. With a word of authority He raises the young man and reunites him to his mom.

A Response of Reverent Fear

The crowds show the right response to Jesus. Their reverent fear causes them to praise God. They see that in Jesus God has come to help His people.

Now what?

For us looking in, as we see Jesus authority over death we too should respond by praising God for Jesus, the only one who can save us from death.
